Presidents had a lot to say about Real Estate!
For President’s Day, I just wanted to send along a couple of real estate related quotes that I came across. “Real estate cannot be lost or stolen, nor can it be carried away. Purchased with common sense, paid for in full, and managed with reasonable care, it is about the safest investment in the world.” — Franklin D. Roosevelt, U.S. President "“The small landholders are the most precious part of a state.” -Thomas Jefferson, U.S. President “Every person who invests in well-selected real estate in a growing section of a prosperous community adopts the surest and safest method of becoming independent, for real estate is the basis of wealth.” — Theodore Roosevelt, U.S. President “No investment on earth is so safe, so sure, so certain to enrich its owners as undeveloped realty. I always advise my friends to place their savings in realty near a growing city. There is no such savings bank anywhere.”- Grover Cleveland, U.S. President Whether it is as a home, or as an investment, real estate truly is one of the safest, and best ways to build wealth. Hopefully you are enjoying a day off due to the holiday! I am not off today (working by choice, of course), so if you want to chat about building your wealth safely, feel free to give me a ring! Matt
Do this the next time you have a “crush” on a house…
Have you ever had a crush on someone, but didn’t have the nerve to even let them know, and then years later you find out that person also had a crush on you?! It’s easy to think, “If only I’d said something at the time!” Unfortunately, fear of rejection often keeps us from taking chances in life and enjoying it to the fullest, even when there is no actual risk. I see it happen all the time in real estate… Picture this: A house that’s for sale catches your eye, and you start daydreaming about how much you’d love to buy it. But a subtle fear of rejection creeps in and you worry that you won’t be able to afford it, or another buyer will beat you to the punch, or outbid you. So you just continue to daydream, and do nothing to see if you could make the dream a reality. Then, once it’s sold or under contract, you mention to me how much you loved that house, and we figure out that it was within your budget, and would’ve been a perfect fit for you! I can’t promise that every house you have a “crush” on will be within your budget, or even match your hopes and expectations once you get to see it. But let me know whenever you’ve got your eyes on a home, so we can at least see if there’s a spark there! -Matt
Real estate and Mardi Gras… what’s the connection?
It’s Mardi Gras! When you hear someone talk about New Orleans… you think Mardi Gras. You picture huge, loud crowds having a party. One last chance to feast before Lent. It’s a great time… if you like huge, loud crowds. But if you really want to see the city of New Orleans, it’s best to go when it’s not Mardi Gras… when it’s less crowded. From a real estate perspective, I think Mardi Gras should signify something else from now on… The last chance to list your house before the crowded, loud Spring market hits. So many people tend to wait until the Spring to list their home. Everyone seems to think it is the best time to do it because there are more buyers looking at that point. But it is not necessarily the best time to list our home, strategically speaking. Because at that point, it is like one big, loud party. If you want your home to stand out and be noticed, it makes a whole lot of sense to list before the streets get crowded with for sale sign, after for sale sign. There are always true buyers in the market. It’s better to get their true attention, before there’s a lot more choices for them to consider. If you’re thinking of selling your house this Spring, give me a call ASAP. If not, just tuck this away for future reference!
